Here's a pic of the '68 Sprint I picked up last Fall. I did have to remove the hideous plastic front fender and plywood/angle iron seat that the previous owner had installed before I could take a pic! I doubt the handlebars are correct, but I kinda like the look of the taller bars.
I'm fabbing a front bracket for the Sportster seat in the pic and bought a correct front fender from a vendor in PA. The last two coats of paint on it were brushed on, so I have some work ahead of me to strip the paint.
I did get it running and it doesn't sound that bad with the short header pipe. I look forward to getting it painted all one color and having it ready to ride this Spring!
Great forum here!

Phew! There is some work to be done, but it looks like it's all cosmetic. Glad it's running good, that's important. Keep us posted, and be sure to take pictures along the way.
It is from Moto Italia. A few small mods were needed. I was a little concerned about drilling the frame where I did for the spring mounting studs, but there is plenty of meat there. I have since covered the studs with some black hoseline and it looks pretty sharp. I can't wait to ride her. Getting decent in Wisconsin and better miles per gallon than my chevy pickup. New(oem) seats are not really available and they wanted too much to reupholster it. I kept the old seat, though.
cosmopoliton motors in hatboro pa has the seats you are looking for he is a little expensive and hard to deal with but he does have em
he is also on ebay
What brand of seat is that on your bike? Did you have any kind of difficulties trying to mount it?
The seat is from a late 90s/early 00s Sportster. I made a bracket for the front that bolts on the stock Sprint seat mount and slides into the seat and the rear bolt lined up with the hole in the fender. It fits pretty well and I like the look.
I'll take a picture of the bracket tonight and post it tomorrow.

Here's an update on my '68 SS project. I have most of the pieces I wanted and am now fabbing up the brackets to mount everything. Things are loosely bolted in place, some using aluminum straps for now just to make sure they fit. I realize alignment is off on the engine guard and a few other things, that will get corrected when I have the new brackets.
I'm going to go with the new Anniversary Copper and Satin Black paint scheme. May also paint the engine satin black and sand the edges of the cooling fins back to alloy. I think I will paint the taillight housing and speedo housings as well.

Awesome! I bet that bike will look awesome in black and copper! Can't wait to see more as you progress. Thanks for the update.
