I got them on Ebay from a supplier I deal with. PM me for his name, he may have more. They are actually for a 71, I didn't like the ones from 72. Don't tell anyone.........

Left side cover, cleaned before blasting
Left side cover after blasting with powdered glass

I reworked the head last night and will pick up the rebored (.4 mm) jug on Tuesday. It is hot here today, but the garage is cool (I have beer) and I think I'll go out and set the bottom end in the frame. Damn engine is so clean, but I have found electrical contact cleaner removes greasy finger prints very well and leaves no residue.

RE: Pics of the 72 SS

Well, the bike is done. I'll post pics and a report on the first ride.

Tip of the day...... You can refurb old cables cheap. Usually the outside plastic rubs and cracks, while the inside cable is good and the steel coil isn't too bad. Here's the tip..... take a utility knife and slice the old plastic lengthwise. Remove it. Use brake cleaner to clean both the cable and sheath. Get some 3/8 inch heat shrink tubing (O'Reilly's auto or Advance) in a ten foot roll. Slip it over the old sheath. You may have to remove one metal end (just pull it off). Hit with a heat gun or torch to shrink. Looks like new. Relube the old cable after it is inside.

Make new throttle cables with a "universal" bike cable kit. 5$ at Wal mart. Works great with the superpratic B throttles common to these bikes. The kit came with four cables, just cut to fit. A few had exactly the right lead end for the 350 carb. The others could be shaped to fit with a dremel tool. DO NOT use these for anything other than the throttle. They are pretty light duty, but my 68 has had one for years without issue.
